The following is a case study of Micaela Dias, a Physiotherapist based in Bryanston, Johannesburg, Gauteng.
About Micaela Dias
I was a kid who was always injured and so was always at the physio. So the world of physio was not strange to me. The medical field always interested me.
After studying, I completed one year community service at Natalspruit Hospital in Alberton. I gained experience in a little bit of everything, spinal cord injury patients, paediatrics, developmental as well as neonatal and adults ICU.
Paediatrics affected me emotionally and so I knew I didn’t want to be in paeds and chose to go into sports. I worked for two practices, gaining experience before deciding to branch out into my own private practice.
What is the current setup of your practice?
I currently work from my own private practice in Bryanston. It’s been up and running for about two and half years. I rent space from the Health and Wellness Center. There is a receptionist there who deals with the appointments and initial client paperwork.
What attracted you to the IsoForge product?
Honestly, the debt collecting and follow ups with medical aids. I don’t like doing that!
What are your current experiences and what do you like most about IsoForge?
It’s going well, the fact that I don’t have to do as much as the debt collecting is great. At the moment, in addition to Shaz doing what she does, I still capture everything on a separate excel spreadsheet and I find that makes me feel like I spend too much time on admin.
But it’s actually about 20 minutes a day so I think when I’m able to let go of the excel capturing, I will find I have way more time available. Currently that is just a personality trait of mine, time will let me slowly let go of the excel capturing I believe.
Where do you feel IsoForge Falls Short for you at the moment?
The diary / booking from my websites.
Did you look at any other business practice management solutions? Why didn’t you go with them
We looked at a few other solutions, but we wanted a system in the practice which gave us multiple solutions in one package and couldn’t find other solutions that offered this.
What are your professional passions and future plans for your practice?
I have a 10 month old baby girl and so spending time with my family is taking more precedence and so I don’t want to be working the long hours I did previously. To this end, I’ve employed another physiotherapist and hope to be able to employ another one in perhaps three years or so.
My work is currently about 55% sport and the balance a mix between post-operative cases and ergonomic issues.
