The following is a case study for Simone Vasques, a Registered Counsellor based in Fourways, Gauteng.
About Simone Vasques
When I left school I always knew I wanted to go into a profession that helped people. My interests ranged from teacher, psychologist, and lawyer to fashion adviser!
I studied a general BA after school and then focused on education psychology. I got my PGC in teaching and found that I loved LO and English but particularly LO.
I completed my Honors in Educational Psychology. That was quite remedial based in schools, with some emotional aspects and I got introduced to the family system and just fell in love with that.
I did a course in the USA in family work with touches of relationship work. Coming back to South Africa I couldn’t find work in the setting that I envisioned for myself and decided to open my own practice in what I was passionate about which is family, couples, parents and children.
What is the current setup of your practice?
This centre in Fourways is owned by a clinical psychologist and I rent a therapy room. There are a couple of practitioners here and we all manage our own practices independently.
What attracted you to the IsoForge product?
I started my practice in January 2018 but I had also been doing some hospital work at the same time and became very familiar with the terrible task of having to run after medical aids for payment. I was spending a lot of time on this and did not want to be. IsoForge was recommended to me and I started using it.
What are your current experiences with IsoForge?
I’ve loved it. It’s been like a breath of fresh air. The team are so efficient and reliable and I think it’s made my practice more professional. My clients get invoiced on time, they get reminders for appointments and they know exactly where they stand with me.
I feel that having an efficient and professional admin and accounts side of my practice adds to my credibility with my clients.
I’ve always used IsoForge since I opened my practice and spend about maybe 10 minutes a day on admin, which is fantastic.
What do you like most about IsoForge?
Just the comfort of having somebody else manage the administrative and financial parts of it so that I can focus on the part that I love the most.
The team does this part for me in a very professional and reliable way. They are responsive and are my ‘go-to’ people. I also like that IsoForge is a one stop shop. It has all the needs of a business in one place.
Where do you feel IsoForge Falls Short for you at the moment?
The only thing I can comment on is that currently my calendar does not sync with my website bookings calendar. I don’t know if there is a solution for that and I’d have to discuss it with the team.
Why don’t you rather hire a secretary or PA to assist with your admin?
I can’t afford a PA, and I don’t think it’s necessary to go to that level. It works well having assistance remotely as is. Also I don’t have to manage any staff and I enjoy working with the team. I feel like I do have my own personal PA!
Did you look at any other business practice management solutions? Why didn’t you go with them
I didn’t look at a lot but I remember finding what I did look at rather confusing and complicated and it didn’t seem very professional. The team at IsoForge made me feel like they knew what they were doing and were responsive, straight forward and responsive.
What are your professional passions and future plans for your practice?
My professional passions are family, relationships, couple relationship, and parent-child relationship. I also love workshops and speaking engagements, attending events and being a speaker at an event.
I’ve created a couple of workshops run as 6 week courses and also have started online counselling for those people who don’t want to, or find it difficult to travel to a therapy setting. They can do it in the comfort of their own home.
In the future, I ultimately see myself in a speaking space. I love organizing events, doing workshops, and connecting with larger groups of people and womens’ events. The webinar space also interests me and no doubt, I’ll look into that.
A big dream is to be an author one day and write a book! Right now I’m gaining richness, information and experience from the sessions that I do to further this dream.
I’d love to be known for being course based. I love using structure in conjunction with therapy, where you can see transformations happening and giving hope to families and their loved ones.
